What is Seborrhoeic dermatitis
chronic dermatitis thought to be caused by an inflammatory reaction related to a proliferation of a normal skin inhabitant, a fungus called Malassezia furfur

Clinical features of seborrhic dermatitis
Itchy rash - eczematous
Affects sebum rich area:
Scalp - maybe causing dandruff
Periorbital
Nasolabial folds
Auricular
Complication of seborrhic dermatitis
Otitis external
Blepharitis May develop
What are the associated conditions with seborrhic dermatitis
See it with HIV and Parkinson’s
Management of seorrbic dermatitis and face and body ?
Topical anti fungal such as ketaconazole
Topical steroids for short course
Difficult to treat and can reoccur
first line Scalp disease management of seborrheic dermatitis ?
containing zinc pyrithione (‘Head & Shoulders’)
or
tar (‘Neutrogena T/Gel’)
second line treatment of seborrheic dermatitis ?
ketoconazole
selenium sulphide and topical corticosteroid may also be useful
seborrheic dermatitis unlike other chronic disorders have less use for what?
