What is a questionnaire? Give a strength and weakness.

A

A set of written questions that can be answered easily.
Strength- usually collect quantitative data so easy to compare, more convenient, can collect large amounts of data, high reliability.
Weakness- socially desirable bias, central tendency bias, low response rate, could misinterpret questions.

Where the participant can answer however they want, there’s no amount of detail, it’s their choice.
Strength- more detail gives a wider insight which increases validity.
Weakness- people respond less, can’t compare.

An interview is a face-to-face or over the phone. They can be structured, unstructured or semi-structured.
Strength- less chance of misinterpreting questions, easier to detect lies, higher response rates, answers can be checked which increases validity.
Weakness- socially desirability bias, qualitative data, time-consuming, less convenient, can’t guarantee honesty of participants.
