Reliability Flashcards
What is reliability?
It’s how consistent a measure is, a measure is consistent if the same results are achieved time and time again.
What is external reliability?
External reliability measures how consistently a test produces similar results over repeated administrations or under different conditions. It ensures that a test is stable over time and situations.
What is internal reliability?
Internal reliability refers to the assessment of result consistency across different items within the test itself. It is the extent to which a measure is consistent within itself.
What is split-half reliability?
The extent to which all of the items on a questionnaire are measuring the same behaviour. It measures internal reliability. Basically, questions 1-3 should be measuring the same as questions 4-6.
What is the test-retest method?
Where a group of participants will complete a questionnaire, test or experiment twice at different times. First and second time scores are correlated, strong positive correlation indicates reliability.
What is inter-rater reliability?
How consistent different observers are when observing behaviour. It is important to make sure both observers are recording the behaviour in the same way.
