- Intention, need to understand why you are achieving something
- Self awareness, ability to acknowledge and understand your own values, strengths, weaknesses and leadership potential
- Self confidence, when you understand your strengths and weaknesses you are more self confident and equipped
- Self - efficiency, people with high self efficiency are confident in their abilities to handle situations
SOAR model
Self: assess understanding yourselves and who you are
Outlook: understanding of how you view the world
Action: taking steps to achieving your objectives
Reflection: learning from outcomes and how to improve

How to demonstrate integrity
Be fair, be honest, be open, be accountable, giving credit
Ubuntu leadership
Is ethical leadership. It is leadership where others are put first
Coaching leadership
These leaders see individuals strengths and weaknesses and are able to motivate and help them improve
Servant leadership
These leaders out the other peoples needs above their own
Level 5 hierarchy:

- Effective leader
- Level 5 excecutive
How to become a level 5 leader
- Practise humility: Do not focus on your own ego and success, and avoid being boastful and looking for praise
- Ask for help
- Take accountability
Instant gratification
Being impulsive and working for immediate, short-term rewards
Delayed gratification
Using your willpower to determine what’s best and get a long-term reward
Willpower is effected by:
- use: the more you use it the more depleted
- environment
- poor sleep
- stress
Iceberg illusion
People only view the top of the ice berg which is short term rewards but the rest of the iceberg is rarely seen, which shows long term rewards are better
The pleasure principle
When we are young are unconscious mind drives our behaviour, wanting instant gratification. As we get older the more we use the reality principle: our unconscious mind becomes less dominant and we develop the ability to access our experiences the real world, we make decisions on those decisions rather than wanting instant gratification
Grit and growth mindset
Studies illustrate that grit and similar emotions keep you motivated and moving towards your long term goals and objectives. Which is importance for leadership
A growth mindset is also important for leadership
