What is self efficacy
Perceived self efficacy is a persons belief of their ability to levels of performance which influence events which have an impact on their lives.
Determines how people feel, think, motivate or behave.
Strong sense of self efficacy
Enhances human accomplishment and personal well being in many ways.
Approach difficult tasks as a challenge to overcome compared to a threat which may damage them.
They set themselves challenging goals and maintain strong commitment to them.
Recover quickly after a setback or failure.
Weak self efficacy
Tend to shy away from difficult tasks. They also have slow aspirations and weak commitment to the goals they wish to pursue.
Dwell on personal deficiencies and obstacles they have to occur and other adverse outcomes rather than concentrate on how to perform successfully.

Affects of self efficiency belief on cognitive processes takes a variety of forms.
Human behaviour relies on person goals orientated.
Personal goals setting is influenced by self appraisal of capabilities.

People set for themselves and the firmer their commitment to them.
Motivational processes
Self beliefs of efficAcy plays a key role in the self regulation of motivation is cognitively generated. People motivate themselves and guide their actions anticipatorily by the exercise of prospective actions. They set goals for themselves and plan courses of action designated to realise valued futures.
Affective processes
Beliefs people have in their coping abilities affect how much stress or depression they experience in threatening or challenging situations and level of motivation.
Perceived coping self efficacy regulates avoidance behaviour as well as anxiety arousal.
The stronger the sense of self efficiency the bolder people are in taxing and threatening activities.
Anxiety arousal is affected not only by perceived coping efficacy but by perceived efficacy to control disturbing thoughts.
Apply to social care
To identify the reasons associated why people whom we are working with can affect their performance in a certain task.
For clients to reach their full potential we need to understand the reasons why people act and behave.
