Problematic social or behavioural reinforcements
Examples of issues involved in youth work
Substance abuse, bullying, attendance at school, violence, or psychological issues will ultimately affect students socialisation.
These issues can all originate or be influenced by situations understood by social learning
Youths with aggressive behaviour?
We would employ social learning theory, assessing role models and stimuli the youths is regularly exposed to may be reinforced by aggressive, disruptive behaviours or discouraging positive, pleasant behaviours.
How can social learning theory be learned
To identify patterns of dysfunctional thoughts which are influencing the youths emotions or behaviours.
Gradual therapy techniques
Positive modelling, symbolic coding, stress management, vicarious reinforcements & systematic desensitisation so new behaviours can be shaped by changing the position or negative reinforcement associated with the stimuli at the root of the problem.
