It is an overarching idea we have about who we are—physically,
emotionally, socially, spiritually, and in terms of any other aspects that make up who we are (Neill, 2005)

This is the core element of self-concept. It encompasses the overall understanding of who you are, including your name, age, gender, and other personal characteristics that make you a unique individual
Self-identity
It reflects the value and worth you place upon yourself
Self-esteem
This refers to how you visualize yourself physically, including your appearance, body image, and the way you think others perceive your looks.
Self-image
This component involves how you see yourself in relation to various social groups you belong to such as your family, friends, culture, ethnicity and nationality.
Social Identity
Is is the various functions you take
on in your life, such as being a student, sibling, friend ore team member
Roles and Social Positions
These includes qualities, traits skills, and abilities that you associate with yourself. Can be negative or positive
Personal Attributes
This component refers to how well-defined and consistent your self-concept is
Self-Concept Clarity
This involves your thoughts and opinions about your own values, beliefs and morals
Self-Perception of Beliefs and Values
These are the standards and goals you set for yourself
Self-Expectations
It is one’s perception of your abilities and skills in various areas of your life
