  • Discrete suicidal ideation
  • vague/no specific plans,
  • some likelihood of rescue or intervention.
  • Passive precautions (door unlocked)
  • significant mental illness, substance misuse, unstable environment, dangerous behaviour
    Action
    • Diffuse emotional distress
    • Involve significant others immediately
    • Safety contract
    • Once safety is obtained, full assessment & daily monitoring required, crisis management plans, intensive interventions

A
  • Intense thoughts of death, seem impossible to get rid of.
  • Definite suicide plan, significant mental illness, significant substance misuse, unstable environment, escalating dangerous behaviour
  • Has a imminent date/time in mind. Clear threats
    Action
    • Ensure immediate safety (voluntary/involuntary admission)
    • Immediate communication with relevant personnel
    • Attend to own safety
    • Where safety can be guaranteed, full assessment, crisis management, intensive interventions (regular contact)
