Selective breeding Flashcards
What is selective breeding
Selective breeding is when humans artificially select the plant or animal that are growing to breed them and have the ginger maintain the population of the current what we want from them(the desired characteristics)
Describe the process of selective breeding
Select livestock which have the best characteristics, read them with each other, select the best of the offspring and breed them together, continue this process over several generations
What are the disadvantages of selective breeding
The main problem is selective breeding that it reduces the gene for a number of different alleles in a population Because of the inbreeding the population are less resistant to disease spread as there is very little variation in the population ageing.
