DNA Flashcards
Chromosome
Prednisones are long molecules of coiled up DNA
Double helix
Each of the two DNA strands is made up of lots of small groups called nucleotides
nucleotide
Each one contains a molecule called a base DNA has just four different baces
baces
You only need to know the four bases by the first initials a C G and T
Cross links
Each base forms cross links to a base on the other strand this keeps it to DNA strands tightly well together
Which bases parer up with which basis
A always pays up with T and c always pays up with G this is called a complimentary base-pairing
DNA division
DNA copies itself every time a cell divides so that each new cell still has full amount of the DNA
In order to copy itself the DNAs double helix must first unzip to form to single-strand
new nucletidos
The result is to double-stranded molecules of DNA that are identical to the original molecule of DNA
