what is a seizure
abnormal electrical activity in the brain
takes atypical pathways
starts as a single group of cells and propagates throughout the brain, symptoms depend on brain region activated if seizure activates motor path–> motor symptoms, both hemishpheres–> loss of consciousness, language pathways–> unable to speak
non epileptic// non seizure events
pseudo seizure=psychiatric event when someone vomits when nervous
Movement disorders: hard to differentiate except by observing the movement

rhythmic, repetitive, stereotyped, loss of consciousness, open eyes, symmetrical movements, random\
Pre ictal- aura, ictal, post ictal (tired muscles)
provoked (hypo glycemia natremia, fever, meds, post syncopal)
unprovoked

jacksonian - 1’ motor
Generalized- tonic/stiff, clonic/shaking, absence/staring
