I saw do something = he d__ something (simple p__) and I saw this. I saw the c____ action, from b____ to e__.
I saw do something = he did something (simple past) and I saw this. I saw the complete action, from beginning to end.
He fell off the wall. I saw this. I saw him fall of the wall.The accident happened.

Note: we use this structure with see and hear, and a number of other verbs (felt, notice, listen, smell, found, etc.)
I saw him doing something = he w__ d___ something (p___ c_____) and I saw this. I saw him when he was in the m____ of doing it. This does not mean that I saw the c____ action.
I saw him doing something = he was doing something (past continuous) and I saw this. I saw him when he was in the middle of doing it. This does not mean that I saw the complete action.
He was walking along the street. I saw him walking along the street. (I saw him when he was in the middle onf doing it)
Note 1: we use this structure with see and hear, and a number of other verbs (felt, notice, listen, smell, found, etc.)
Note 2: sometimes the difference is not important and you can use either form.
Did anybody go out? I don’t think so. I didn’t see anybody go/going out.
