Fire suppression is accomplished by shutting off the supply of air to the compartment. As a result, the airplane gradually depressurizes and the oxygen required for combustion is eliminated.
Pushing the DEPR/CARGO switch shuts off the air to the cargo compartments and also results in a gradual depressurization to the approximate flight altitude.

a. The lavatory has a single smoke detector. An aural annunciation consisting of a horn, sounds in the lavatory and is audible in the immediate vicinity. There is no cockpit annunciation of smoke detected in a lavatory.
