They were made of wooden,very simple to build. Small hill was the motte. Fort was were they looked out. Bailey was where everyone lived.

A little river around the motte and bailey.
Keep
Was the main building of castle were Lord and family lived.
Battlements
Were the top of keep. All they long the soliders kept guard from here.
Turrets
Were strong towers along the walls
Portcullis
Was an iron grille that could be lowered in front of the castle gate.
Ramparts
Ran alone the top of the walls
Latrines
Were the toilets of the castle
Trenchers
Big slices of bread on which was served the food.
