Secondary Sources
The secondary sources are taken information or evidence that comes from a later date. They are based an primary sources but are produced after the event .
Example: T.V documents
Primary sources
Primary sources are taken directly from the past.
Example : 2010 I i was in London
Bias
The views of the author have to be considred.
Accuracy
Sometimes sources can be inaccurate. Many history sites on the Internet have wrong information.
Exaggeration
Making an event appear more important than it really . This can be a major problem .
Propaganda
This is a way of presenting information in order to influence people’s opinions .
Time and place
An old person describing an event that happened fifty years ago may have forgotten key details .
Centuries
A century lasts 100 years .
Biography
The story of person’s life written by another person .
Autobiography
An account of person’s life written by the actual person .
Census
Census in Ireland was at 1911 .
Manuscript
Before the invention of the printing press, all books and documents were written by hand .
Prehistory
The prehistory period is before writing was used . We rely on archeologogy for our evidence in this period .
Archeology
The study of the remains left by our ancestoras .
Historians
The historians study events from the past .
