Why should Christians promote racial harmony? 3
- Christians will be judged by God
- golden rule : treat others like you would like to be treated (Christians should put this into practice and treat everyone the same)
- teachings of Jesus ( Christians should follow his examples eg the food Samaritan)
How does the government work to promote community cohesion?
- race relations act 1976
- commission for racial equality
- illegal to use insulting words of a racial nature
- Britishness test to ensure a common vision and sense of belonging
- organisations exist to support people from ethnic minorities
Why should Muslims promote racial harmony? 5
- there are Muslims of every race
- Muhammad said in his last sermon that no race is superior to any other
- Ummah means that all Muslims are brothers regardless of race
- the Qur’an teaches that Allah made all the races on earth so Muslims should give them equal respect

How does the media present religon negatively?2
- often they present a negative view of certain religons to sell more or to make the program seem more interesting eg the Simpsons, a documentary called : Tsumani - where was God
- the negative aspects of religon are more entertaining than the positive
How does the media present religon un a positive way?
- newspapers report on events so it is accurate rather than biased
- often programs are positive rather than negative eg songs of praise
What is religious freedom?
People have the right to practice their religion freely and change their religion
What is an ethnic minority?
A smaller ethnic group than the majority in society
How are men and women not treated equally in the UK today?3
- men are still paid more than women
- men and women have had different roles in the past
- men and women are associated with different jobs traditionally

- they have the same rights
- they are both involved with raising children
- they can both vote and earn money

- they have greater tolerance for different people
- they have a better understanding of their culture and beliefs
How does living in a multi faith society cause problems for religious people?2
- there may be conflict eg shooting of lee rigby
- it is difficult for people to adapt to forms of life they are not used to and to be accepted

- the bible teaches me and women were equally created by God ‘ in his own image ‘
- it was a women who were the first to see him after resurrection
- it was women who stayed by him at the cross
- jesus treated men and women equally and with respect
- there is historical evidence that there were women in the early church
How does living in a multi-ethnic society help to reduce racism? 3
1 mixing with people helps to understand different races and cultures
2 children raised in a multi-ethnic society will not be aware of racial differences
3 gives people the opportunity to become more educated about other cultures

- it could reduce conflict
- partners love is more of a reward than faith
- faith can be enriched by discussing differences with eachorher

- Muslims are taught to bring their children up as good Muslims which is easier in a single faith marriage
