What is a value?
The ideals, or principles and standards members of a culture hold in high regard.
What is a belief?
The convictions that people hold to be true.
What is social control?
Ways to encourage conformity to cultural norms or rules.
What are norms and how do we support social instructions?
Behaviors that reflect compliance with that culture and societies have defined as good, right, and important.
Military, criminal justice and healthcare systems, and public schools.
What is the relationship between private property and the criminal justice system?
Private property is highly valued and thieves can be fined, imprisoned, or both.
What are symbols?
Symbols - gestures, signs, objects, signals, and words-help people understand the world.
What is Mores?
Mores - are norms that embody the moral views and principles of a group.
What is Folkways?
Folkways - norms without any moral underpinnings.
