It helps people feel secure and at ease and fundamental in understanding humor in different cultures.
What is nonmaterial culture?
The ideas, attitudes, and beliefs of a society, they are intangible.
What is material culture?
Items you can touch-they are tangible.
What are culture universals?
Patterns or traits that are globally common to all societies.
What did Murdock learn about cultural universals?
Cultural universals revolve around basis human survival, such as finding food, clothing, and shelter or around shared human experiences, such as birth and death or illness and healing.
What is ethnocentrism and is it good or bad?
To evaluate and judge another culture based on one’s own cultural norms. It’s bad.
Why should sociologists encourage cultural relativism?
Cultural relativism is the practice of assessing a culture by its own standard rather than viewing it through the lens of one’s own culture.
