A Driver’s License is the last stage of the
Graduated Driver Licensing System. How can you be eligible and how will you receive it?
- Be at least 18 years of age, had a Provisional License for at least 8
months, and have not been convicted of any moving violations or have been granted probation before judgment for any moving violations within the past 18 months - the MVA will automatically switch your Provisional and a card will be mailed to you showing the switch, but you must carry the

What must a co-signer do to cancel a minor’s license and how can it get uncancelled?
- submit a written request to the MVA’s
Administrative Adjudication Division - reach the age of 18 or have a co-signer co-signs a new application
What must you complete if you have a license out of the country and you want to gain a MD one?
- Vision screening.
- Knowledge test.
- Driving skills test.
- A three-hour alcohol and drug education
program approved by the MVA.
What must you complete if you have a non-English license out of the country and you want to gain a MD one, and what is true about their documents?
- Have an International License, or Have your
translated into English - Document translations must be an MVA approved provider or court
translator or The embassy of the country of origin. They also must contain the Typed/printed name of the translator, Telephone number, and Signature of the translator.
What is true about foreign language testers?
- Interpreter can be used when taking knowledge or driver’s test, but the services must be paid for by tester and they they cannot certify residence, conduct the business of a driving school, or issue lease/
rental agreements - Knowledge test must be taken minimum 5x before using interpreter if the test is offered in your language
- Interpreter/Translator must show a valid photo identification, and MVA staff will confirm their on the MVA’s approved list

- It is a voluntary blue card that size of a driver’s license for people with developmental disabilities, and includes space to provide details about your disability, how best to communicate with you, and other information you may want to share with law enforcement
- You or your parent/ guardian can visit the info desk at any MVA location and MVA will NOT ask you to provide info or documentation about your disability
