What is the ATC responsibility in regards to FIS?
Provide FIS to all aircraft which are:
a) provided with air traffic control service; or
b) otherwise known to the relevant air traffic services units
What are the three Air Traffic Services?
Air Traffic Control service, Flight Information service, Alerting service
What are the circumstances for ATC to provide Directed Traffic Information to pilots?
Pass traffic information to IFR aircraft when:
a) requested by pilots;
b) pilots notify intention to change level and/or track;
c) pilots notify either taxi or airborne or departure, whichever is first; or
d) you become aware of relevant traffic
What are the three steps for handing over an aircraft to another sector?
As a flight moves through different volumes of airspace, responsibility must be transferred between controllers by means of:
–Prior coordination
Hand-off of jurisdiction
-Transfer the aircraft to the next controller’s frequency
How is jurisdiction of an aircraft determined?
Airspace and frequency of aircraft
