The child begins making repetitive patterns of sound with their mouth.

When does it occur?
The second stage is known as one-word or (morpheme) stage
It extends from nine to eighteen months of age.
What occurs during the morpheme stage?
The child begins to make basic word stems and single open-class words.
What is the third stage of first language acquisition and when does it occur?
The two word stage
It extends from eighteen to twenty-four months.
What occurs during the two word stage?
The child begins making miniature sentences with simple semantic relationships.
What is the fourth stage of first language acquisition and when does it occur?
The telegraphic or (multiword or multimorpheme stage)
It occurs from twenty-four to thirty months.
In what stages does a child begin to express sentence structure with lexical rather than functional or grammatical morphemes?

The later multiword stage.
When does the later multiword stage occur?
typically after thirty months.
