a) data collection on archeological and ancestral values on the land base
b) Map ID of forest areas with exposure to roads used by tourists
c) Map ID of area which might be attractive to tourists for recreation such as potential ski slopes
d) collecting data to support the fulfillment of the duty to consult on FN interest in resource use.
Current policy objectives on earth science inventories:
collect and analyze data on sciences as they pertain to land use decisions in order to forecast future resource availability.
Soil conservation (soil conservation act), slope stability (environmentally sensitive areas), and archeologically sensitive sites (Heritage conservation act).
Gov’t objective on ecology inventories:
Main objective is to collect data to facilitate the protection of ecologically sensitive systems such as the great bear rainforest.
Current policy: Protected areas network, Ecosystem Based Management, systems for funding ecological risk assessment and research
Government objective for bio diversity inventories
Conservation of biodiversity, sustainable use of biological resources, and equitable sharing of benefits derived from the use of biological resources.
Gov’t objective for vegetation inventories:
collect resource data on vegetated treed, non treed, range lands and map non vegetated areas.
