secondary flight controls Flashcards
what are flaps
flaps are high lift devices used to increase both LIFT and DRAG
how do flaps work
works by increasing in airfoil camber which results in the coefficient of lift
what kind of flaps do archers have
PLAIN FLAPS with a manual flap system
what are the settings for flaps
- 0°, 10°, 25°, & 40°
- spring loaded to return to 0° position
what trim system does the archer have
antiservo trim tabs
how does the trim system work
it works by deflecting in the same direction of the control surface. this makes the movement of the control system more difficult and require more force to be applied to the controls by the pilot
why is this specific archer trim system installed even if it seems counter productive
it is commonly used on aircraft where the CONTROLS are TOO LIGHT
OR
the aircraft require ADDITIONAL STABILITY in that axis of movement
what axis of movement does trim has most control about
pitch
