Sec - 6 (Tank Bottom Lining Selection) Flashcards
Tank bottom linings can generally be divided into two classes
1- thin-films (Dry Film Thk. < 20 mils or 500 µm)
2-Thick-films (Dry Film Thk. > 20 mils or 500 µm or more)
Thin-film tank bottom lining systems are frequently based on ,,,,,,
epoxy or epoxy-copolymer resins
,,,,,,, are often applied to internal tank surfaces
Inorganic zinc (zinc silicates)
Thin-film of Inorganic zinc (zinc silicates) are often applied to internal tank surfaces at ,,,,,,
3 to 5 mils dry film thickness (DFT)
Thin Film when properly selected, applied, and not damaged, the life of thin-film linings can be,,,,,
> 20 years.
There are currently two types of thick systems being specified
1- Fiber glass reinforced plastic (FRP) laminates
2-Reinforced thick-film linings
FRP systems consist of either a ,,,,,, or ,,,, roving embedded in a resin
1.5 oz glass mat
chopped fiberglass
