SDG 13: Climate action (AOS_2) Flashcards
1
Q
Aim
A
take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
2
Q
Description
A
- strengthens resilience and adaptive capacity to climate related hazards and natural disasters
- have a plan to alleviate climate change effects through national policies, strategies and planning
- improve education and awareness to mitigate climate change
3
Q
why is it important?
A
- unpredictable rainfall patterns –> impacts crops
- global warming –> destroys ozone –> increase UV radiation
- climate-induced natural disasters –> destroy infrastructures
4
Q
how can it work towards improving h&w and HD globally?
A
- enabling predictable rainfall patterns –> easier to grow crops –> food security –> prevent malnutrition
- reduce effects of global warming –> reduce effect of UV radiation –> decrease burden of skin cancer
5
Q
SDG13 promotes SDG3
A
predictable rainfall patterns –> easier to grow crops –> improve countries food security –> strengthen immune system –> children less prone to diseases –> lower rates of U5MR
6
Q
SDG3 promotes SDG13
A
- absence of communicable diseases –> more people able to become educated on predicting rainfall patterns for crops
- reduction of U5MR –> more children able to become education, understanding how to reduce the effects of climate induced disasters
