Lost SCUBA Diver.

A
  1. Sound the recall and post lookouts. continue to sound the recall in frequent intervals.
  2. Lower the last diver clump and buoy, hand over hand, at the last known location of the lost diver.
  3. Initiate a search with standby diver in the area of the lost diver’s last known location. A surfacing buddy diver may be used in lieu of the standby diver, if he displays sufficient composure, has adequate air, and no-decompression time remaining.
  4. Activate the emergency assistance plan to alert medical personnel and to have emergency transportation standing by.
  5. Notify the command to allow gathering of additional resources to aid in the search.
  6. Continue searching and sounding the recall until the lost diver is found, all resources are exhausted, or competent authority calls off the search.

Trapped/Fouled SCUBA Diver.

  1. Ascertain if the diver has sufficient air and what assistance is required.
  2. Launch standby diver to provide required assistance. (stand-by may deliver a new apparatus and assist cutting the trapped diver free),
  3. A surfacing buddy diver may be used in lieu of stand-by for a rescue if the buddy displays sufficient composure, has adequate air, and is in a favorable decompression status. (Never send a single un-tended diver down).

Unconscious SCUBA Diver on the Bottom.

A
  1. Direct Stand-by to approach with caution, Reg in mouth (no purge), maintain airway, push on sternum, inflate B/C on surface, ditch his weights and gear.
  2. Inflate the affected divers B/C.
  3. Rescue diver inflate his own B/C.
  4. Maintain an open airway on the victim.
  5. give two rescue breaths if unconscious diver is not breathing.
  6. Extract the divers.
  7. Begin basic life support measures and transport the diver to the recompression chamber or Medical facility.
