  • an outpouching of the anterior abdominal wall
  • skin is thin with little or no fat - important for maintaining a temperature below body temperature
  • consists of a series of concentric layers which are derived from corresponding layers of the anterior abdominal wall

  • Parietal layer: superficial, lies internal to the internal spermatic fascia
  • Visceral layer: deep, firmly adherent to the testis and epididymis
