Describe the scrotum.
A
- an outpouching of the anterior abdominal wall
- skin is thin with little or no fat - important for maintaining a temperature below body temperature
- consists of a series of concentric layers which are derived from corresponding layers of the anterior abdominal wall

A
- the testes
- the epididymis
- the lower part of the spermatic cord

Describe the dartos muscle.
A
- smooth muscle fibers which are firmly adherent to the skin of the scrotum
- functions in temperature regulation

What is hydrocele?
A
an accumulation of fluid in the cavity of the tunical vaginalis that leads to swelling of the scrotum

Describe the layers of the tunica vaginalis.
A
- Parietal layer: superficial, lies internal to the internal spermatic fascia
- Visceral layer: deep, firmly adherent to the testis and epididymis
