Scoring Events Flashcards
Obstructive apnea
-90% reduction in airflow
-10 sec or longer
-continued chest and ab effort
-does not need to be associated with desat or arousal
Central apnea
-no airflow
-no chest/ abdomin effort
-10s or longer
- does not need to be associated with desat or arousal
Mixed Apnea
-no airflow
-starts with no respiratory effort then returns during 2nd half of event
-10s or longer
-not associated with desat or arousal
Obstructive hypopneas
-nasal pressure Amp decreases by 30%
-lasts 10+ sec
- Sp02 drops 3%+ or w/arousal
-at least 90% of event meets amp Decrease
Cheyne Stokes
-3 or more central apneas separated by crescendo and decrescendo change in breathing Amp.
-cycle length of 40s or more
-5+ Central apneas or Central hypopneas per hour with crescendo and decrescendo pattern
RERA
-10s and terminated by arousal
-sudden changes in airflow or Sp02 desats that cause arousal- but not hypopneas
-generally seen on Nasal pressure, not airflow
