A

thickening confined to one area of anterior sclera and congestion of episcleral vessels, NOT associated with invasion of cornea
usually Self-limiting
Tx: steroids

clinical features of Nodular granulomatous episclerokeratitis

A

aka fibrous histiocytoma, pseudotumor and Collie granuloma
Sheepdogs Border Collies, and Australian Shepherds
Nodular Pink Masses at temporal limbus, Bilateral and NON-painful, invasion of cornea is common and can cover completely

Tx of nodular granulomatous episclerokeratitis

A

Topical and subconjunctival steroids, cyclosporine A, systemic azathioprine
can do Sx and cryo
Control is possible but cure is unlikely

Clinical features of ocular nodular fasciitis

A

same as NGE except histopath shows fibroblasts with abundant reticulin formation
has no breed predisposition
Sx and cryo is curative unlike NGE

Clinical features of diffuse scleritis

A

diffuse scleral injection/inflammation, tends to be bilateral
everything is inflamed
PAINFUL
American Cocker Spaniels
Tx: Topical steroids + systemic immunosuppressives (steroids and azathioprine)
