Define
Sclera is the posterior 5/6th opaque part of the external fibrotic tunica of the eyeball
Boundaries
It’s whole outer surface is covered my Tenons capsule. Another part: bulbar conjunctiva
Inner surface is in contact with the choroid. Potential space- suprachoroidal space
Anterior most part near the limbus there is a furrow which encloses the canal of Schlemm
Thinnest
At the insertion of extra ocular muscles
Apertures
Posterior: situated around the optic nerve, transmit long and short ciliary nerves and vessels
Middle: slightly posterior to the equator, four vortex veins
Anterior: 3-4mm away from the limbus, anterior ciliary vessels and branches from long ciliary nerves
