Scientific processes: Aims + Hypotheses Flashcards
Define aim.
A general statement describing what the study intends to investigate.
Define operationalisation of variables.
Making it clear how the variables are understood and how they will be measured.
Define experimental hypothesis.
A testable statement used in an experiment to predict what will happens in an investigation. Both the IV and DV are operationalised.
Define alternative hypothesis.
A testable statement used in non-experimental method to predict what will happen in an investigation.
Define directional hypothesis
A hypothesis that predicts a very specific direction of outcome of a study.
Define non-directional hypothesis.
A directional hypothesis that does not state a specific direction of outcome of a study.
