What is the independent variable?
The variable that is controlled or manipulated by the experimenter.
What is the dependent variable?
Variable that is affected by the independent variable
What would a fair test be like?
When you only change one factor and leave the other conditions the same.
What is a variable?
Any factor that can change ( time, weight, temperature)
What is the aim?
The purpose of the investigation
What is the hypothesis?
An educated guess about what is happening
How must a report be written?
In past tense or third person tense
What is the difference between the result and the conclusion?
The result is the data that you recorded during the experiment.
The conclusion is when you refer to the aim and state the conclusion as if you were answering your question
Eg: “ therefore hot air rises and cold air sinks”
What is a watch glass used for?
Weighing items
What is a beaker?
Container for stirring, heating, and mixing liquids
What is a funnel used for?
Careful pouring
What is a conical flask ?
To hold chemicals and chemical reactions
What is a test tube used for?
To hold small liquids and can be heated
Explain the purpose of the evaporating dish
For heating a solution so that the solid is left behind
What is a side arm tube used for?
Chemical reactions where a gas is collected
