Q

deductive approach - how did it led to a challenge to understanding of how planets moved

A
  • conflicted with evidence astronomers had to find another explanation
  • thought perfect motion had to be in circles some way & alternate explanations far too complicated so idea of circular motion challenged which challenged view that heavens were perfect

Q

inductive approach - what do scientists do

A
  • observe & gather evidence for what’s being examined and seeks to eliminate all irrelevant factors
  • analyse evidence & draw conclusions
  • devise experiment to test hypothesis
  • argue for theory that will explain evidence
  • when there’s a theory use deduction to predict things that should be the case
