French Multitasking Experiment

A

Study released by NPR explored an experiment conducted by French scientists –> In the expierment that compared frontal lobe function when being set to accomplish various tasks in exchange for monetary rewards. When the particpiants were only required to complete one task, they were able to complete it relativley easily. However, as soon as the expierement moved on to challenging particpiants up to 3 tasks, the frontal lobe was observed to essentially be divided, meaning that particpaints were less attentive and even became less retentiative with the goals at hand, as one of the tasks commonoly dissapreared from the experiment-ees heads

Q

Stanford Prison Experiment

A

Expierement conducted at Stanford University in which participants were divided into two groups based on an intial personality test. These two groups consisted of guards and prisoners. Overall, the expierment was meant to simulate the prison system, week long –> As the expierment went on, those placed in the group of the gaurds, and thus held a higher level of authroity, became more cruel in their ruling tactics. For instance, gaurds turned to modes of physical assault once prisoners would ignore wake up calls or disobey orders the first time given. The conudcters of the experiement even noted how few of the “prisoners” began to express symptoms of severe emotional distress.
