Thomas Nast and Boss Tweed

A

Throughout the Gilded age, the rise of Political machines across cities soon became an American staple. Referring to institutions set on amassing as much power within a given location, political machines were often set on abusing quid-pro-quo tactics, rigging elections, and using corruptive methods to obtain more political influence. In terms of NYC, one figure head of such political machine instutituions was imfamously known as Boss Tweed. No one truly showed the gull to rise up to this force howerver, except for political cartoonist Tomast Nast. Through sheer comical caricuatures and satire, Nast was able to expose Nast as the fraud he was. In fact these cartoons led to Spanish officers to recongize Tweed as he attempted to flee the nation, thus this cartoons were the ___ for his arrest. Additionally, these cartoons inspired citizens to vote Tweed’s cabinet members out of office.
As head of the machine, Tweed commited acts of embezlemet and abuse of spoils system

-War initally was a supported endeavor, due to concerns of communism spreading in US did not intervene. However, through the factor of more modern technology being implement in the home, such as the –> Public was revealed to the horrors that war elicted, such as the use of toxic and flammable chemicals like Napalm and Agent Orange –> Caused disaterous effects, even for just the locals (birth defects, chemical burns, mutations)

Marie Antionette and Her Children- Painting

A

During the King Louis the 16th rule ofver france, wife was largely ridiculed for her inexpierence and oblivious nature despite being at the tip of the societal heiarchy
–> result, painting was crafted with the intention to repair her image, depicting her right at the center as this holy and devout mother, with her various children settled by her side. In reality, this painting ended up being torn to pieces by the public, with many criticizing this painting to be overly dramatic and exxagerated. Thus, yeileding the exact opposite effects as intented.

black boy, age of 11, sent to the electric chair after being charged for the murder of 2 white girls –> faced with an all white jury
–> found guilty
However, later on, his involvement in the affair was proven to be false –> died in the hasty handsd of the court system, dying for nothing
–> entire situation rushed for nothing
