zygote (implantation)
embryo (becomes surrounded by membrane called amnion)
amnion fillies with amniotic fluid
foetus
4 points on umbilical cord
The baby’s blood passes through the umbilical cord and attaches to the lining of the uterus
8 weeks - foetus
the umbilical cord connects baby to placenta at navel
placenta 2 points
organ fully develops week 12
passes substances (nutrients) from mother and baby
Labour
The birth canal widens, the amnion bursts and contractions of the muscle begins
Birth

Removal of placenta
after birth

diaphragm: a dome-shaped rubber cat that fits over the cervix jd prevents sperm from entering the uterus
chemical contraception
contraception pill: contains oestrogen or progesterone and prevents ovulation
Surgical contraception
Tubal ligation: fallopian tubes are cut and sealed which prevents fertilisation
vasectomy: the cutting or tying off of the sperm ducts there will be no sperm in the semen
