Science Quiz 1 Flashcards
What is light NOT?
Light is not a solid, liquid, or gas. Light travels faster, and more freely without a medium(matter)
What happened when the light hit the radiometer?
The flashlight battery(chemical) hit the circuit(electrical) that hit the filament (thermal/light)
What are forms of energy in light?
Forms of energy in light include Electromagnetic, Electrical, magnetic, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and nuclear

What are examples of electromagnetic radiation?
- Light -Gamma Rays
- Radio & TV waves. -Infrared Waves
- Microwaves Mr. UV. Reads. An. X-ray
- UV Waves
- X-rays
What is the difference between the circuit lamp and the flashlight lamp?
The flashlight lamp had a single small filament, producing low heat/light. The circuit lamp contains of a larger filament, which distributes more heat and is powered by an electric circuit that has more power.
Where are Electrons located?
Electrons are located on “paths” called orbitals
What are the 2 chemical energy sources that come from striking a match?
Chemical for the red phosphorous tip and mechanical for moving the tip on the surface to cause friction to make a flame
What does light originate in?
Light originates in an atom. Each atom has the same number of protons, neutrons, and electrons each.
What is Light?
Light is bright-rays and radiation
