Science - How Fast Flashcards
What is the rate of a reaction?
How quickly reactants are used up or products are produced
What are the ‘2 FACTORS’ that affect rate of reaction?
- the amount of energy the particles have (more energy can be transferred -> more chance of reaching activation energy)
- the frequency of collisions (more often -> more sucessful collisions)
How does the temperature of the particles increase the rate of reaction?
1) The particles gain more energy
2) They collide more forcefully and faster.
3) Therefore, they are more likely to exceed the activation energy and collide more freqently.
4) There will be a higher rate of succesful collisions
The rate of reaction can be found by measuring…
How quickly reactant is used up or a product forms
I am going to investigate how the rate of the reaction between sodium thiosulfate and hydrochloric acid is affected by changing the concentration of the sodium thiosulfate solution.
What is the independent variable in this investigation
Concentration of sodium thiosulfate solution
