Science:Heating and cooling. Flashcards
What is the human body temperature?
37degrees Celsius
How does heat travel?
It travels through particles
What is convection?
Convection is a current that carries heat through water. Since heat rises up wards it would make the water flow upwards.
What does water need to stay hot for longer?
More energy (thermal energy)
What is thermal energy?
It is the same as heat energy.
What surface reflects heat? What attracts it?
Shiny surfaces reflect and dark matte ones attract
What is the unit for measuring energy?
Joules
What is a conductor?
A material which lets energy easily flow through it.
What is an insulator?
A material does NOT let energy easily flow through it.
What is the definition of contract?
‘To get smaller’
What’s a fluid?
A gas or liquid.
What’s an infrared radiation?
A wave that travels heat, it can pass through vacuums.
3 states of matter:
Solid,liquid and gases.
What is pressure?
The force caused by particles hitting a certain area
What is radiation?
The transfer of heat energy by electromagnet waves.
