Q

What were the fossil clues?

A

Fossil clues were when scientists found fossils of different instinct animals on different countries across the world. But these creatures couldn’t have swam or flew across the ocean.

Q

What were the fossil clues?

A

The fossil clues were that people found fossils of the same creature across the world. These creatures did not have the ability to swim or fly. So how did they get there? If all of our continents were together, then those creatures could have walked.

Q

What were the rock clues?

A

The rock clues were we figured out that the same mountain range was on two different mountains across the world from each other. They found the same type of minerals in them.

16
Q

What is subduction?

A

Subduction is when one plate sinks below the more buoyant (less done) plate. This happens in the subduction zone.

17
Q

What is convection?

A

The circulation of material caused by differences in temperature and density.

18
Q

What does divergent mean?

A

When two plates separate. Magma comes up through the cracks in the form of volcanos and create new crust.

19
Q

What does convergent mean?

A

When two plates collide. The denser plate can subduct. It can create mountains.

20
Q

What does transform mean?

A

Two plates slide horizontally past one another. Earthquakes are common along the type of plate boundaries.

21
Q

What is a Basal drag?

A

Convection currents in asthenosphere circulate and drag the lithosphere with it. Like a conveyor belt at a supermarket.

22
Q

What is a ridge push?

A

Ridge push- the rising mantle material at the mid ocean ridges pushes the older material down and away from the ridge.

23
Q

What is a slab pull?

A

The plate that sinks at a subduction is called a SLAB. As, the old, cold, denser plate sinks it will pull the rest of the plate with it.
