Aquifer
An underground layer of rock or sediment that holds water.
Condensation
The change of state from a gas to a liquid
Evaporation
The process by which molecules at the surface of a liquid absorb enough energy to change to a gas
Precipitation
Any formm of water that falls from clouds and reaches Earth’s surgace as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
Process
A series of changes that happen over time and lead to an expected result
Water cycle
The continual movement of water among Earth’s atmosphere, oceans and land surface through evaporation, condensation, and precipitation
Watershed
The land area that supplies water to a river system
Well
A hole sunk into the ground to reach a supply of water.
Transpiration
The process by which water is lost through a plant’s leaves.
