Science Flashcards
Supports plant cells
Cell walls
Carries wastes, food and water
Vacuole
Makes energy
Mitochondria
Makes food and releases oxygen in a plant cell
Chloroplast
Directs cell activities
Nucleus
Allows the passage of materials
Cell membrane
How are plant and animal cells different?
Plant cells have a cell wall and chloroplasts. Plant cells also have larger vacuoles compared to animal cells
What is the function of DNA?
DNA controls inherited traits and genetic material.
Where is DNA found (Use the following terms in your answer: nucleus, chromosomes, and genes)?
DNA is found in your genes, which are on a chromosome, found in the nucleus.
What is the correct structure of living things?
Cells>tissues>organs>organ systems
Functions of skeletal system.5
Produces red blood cells, stores minerals, protects internal organs, provides shape and support, and enables movement.
Functions of the muscular system:2
Provides movement, controls many internal organs.
Functions for the integumentary system. 5
Prevents loss of water (dehydration), protects body from injury and infection, regulates body temperature, eliminates wastes, gather information about the environment.
Functions of the digestive system:3
Breaks down food, molecules absorb into blood and carried throughout the body, solid wastes are eliminated.
Functions of the excretory system:2
Removes wastes, collects and eliminates cellular waste from body (liquid and gas)
