FORMTION
From joining of deep peroneal nerve(L4- S3) and common peroneal nerve(L4-S2) in the pelvic cavity
COURSE
It runs through the greater sciatic notch and then beneath the piriformis muscle. It runs vertically downwards then enters the gluteal region and passes below the gluteus maximus. It enters the back of the thigh and runs below the long head of biceps femoris. Finally divides into two terminal branches in the superior angle of the popliteal fossa.
