What are the phases of schizophrenia?
prodomal, acute, recovery, relapse
What are the s&s of the prodomal phase?
early signs, barley noticeable, moments of paranoia, negative thought loops, can last for a long time
What are the s&s of the acute phase?
clear psychotic s&s, less able to meet basic needs, substance abuse, functioning decrease, dependence on others increases, high suicide risk, hospitalization
What are the s&s of the recovery phase?
treated +/- s&s
What are the 6 problematic communication patterns?
blocking, clang association, echolalia, neologisms, word salad and preservation
What is blocking?
stopping mid sentence
What is clang association?
random rhyming
What is echolalia?
repeating others
What is neologisms?
using fake words
What is word salad?
saying random words
What is preservation?
repeating self
What are the positive symptoms?
delusions, illusions, hallucinations
What are the negative symptoms?
flat affect, alogia, avolition, anhedonia and apathy
What is alogia?
poverty of speech
What is avolition?
poverty of motivation
