Outline clinical characteristics of Schizophrenia

A
  • disintegration of the personality/split between thinking and emotion
  • 2 classification systems - DSM (western) and ICD (nonwestern)
  • characteristics present for at least 6 months
  • positive symptoms = delusions, paranoia and auditory hallucinations
  • negative symptoms = catatonia, alogia
  • subtypes - catatonic (immobility, involuntary movements)
