Outline clinical characteristics of Schizophrenia
A
- disintegration of the personality/split between thinking and emotion
- 2 classification systems - DSM (western) and ICD (nonwestern)
- characteristics present for at least 6 months
- positive symptoms = delusions, paranoia and auditory hallucinations
- negative symptoms = catatonia, alogia
- subtypes - catatonic (immobility, involuntary movements)
