What is DSM-5’s criteria for diagnosing schizophrenia ?
A
There are 3 pieces of criteria that the diagnosis goes through:
Criteria A: two or more of the following symptoms: delusions,hallucinations,disorganised speech, catatonic behaviour
Criteria B: social/occupational dysfunction
problems affecting work/personal relationships
Criteria C: duration needs to be at least 6 months and at least 1 month of a symptom.

- hallucinations
- delusions
- disorganised speech

A
- alogia/speech poverty
- avolition: when speech reflects problems in organising thoughts
