Schema Theory Flashcards
1
Q
Schmidt’s Schema Theory
A
- Learners develop “rules” (schemas) for a motor task or behavior
- Motor memories
- Abstract representation stored in memory following multiple presentations of a class of objects or experiences
2
Q
Schema
A
- Relationship b/w parameters generated and movement outcomes produced
- What you want the pt. to do and what they actually do
3
Q
Schema Graphs
A
- Can be Linear or Non-Linear
- If you construct interventions with limited experiences, expect a limited schema to be built
- When planning to produce a movement never before performed, the learner uses the schema to make an educated guess
4
Q
Interpolation
A
- Relatively safe and do-able
- Inside the range of variation experienced
5
Q
Extrapolation
A
- More prone to error
- Outside the range of variation experienced
