Scene Seven: Tuck Cottage Flashcards
MILES: Here, Pa. It finally happened.
Please don’t hurt me, please don’t hurt me -
JESSE: Winnie, nobody’s gonna hurt you.
I can’t believe you tricked me. I trusted you. We climbed a tree!
ANGUS: Does she… does she… you know.
Know about the water?
ANGUS: A Foster! From Treegap? Your great-grandfather and I used to fish together! It’s a pleasure to meet you! Don’t you want to shake my hand?
No, I want to bite it. That’s what my father told me to do if anybody ever tried to kidnap me.
ANGUS: This is different, Miles. This is a child. A child changes everything. Winnie Foster, I give you my word that we are not going to harm you. Please don’t bite me.
Fine. Can I please just go home?
ANGUS: Welcome back boys. I’ve missed the sound of you fighting.
You’ve been gone ten years? But you’re only seventeen. I’m so confused.
MILES: The spring made us immortal.
Okay, I have a lot of questions, starting with: where is this cat?
MILES: Every kitten for fifty miles has his little white paws.
How can I be sure you’re not just telling me a story?
MAE: Nobody is shooting anybody, Jesse! I mean it, I just cleaned.
It’s true. That’s the music box my Nana heard, back when she was my age…
ANGUS: Aw, Mae, everyone swears when they get shot.
You shot your father.
MAE: Jesse, I told you. Not in the house.
I don’t understand! Didn’t you get hurt?
MILES: Not physically, anyway.
What else can you do? Can you fly?
MILES: Headfirst.
It must be so fun to be you!
MAE: Not at all. It’s not fun to be without your boys for ten years at a time.
Why do you spend so much time apart?
MILES: It tends to scare the locals.
You could never scare me. But now I have about a million more questions.
