Scene Seven (2): The Lake Flashcards
[WINNIE and ANGUS are in a boat on a lake.]
I think I got another one!
ANGUS: What is that: five fish in ten minutes?
Well, it would’ve been six fish, if -
ANGUS: I said I was sorry.
Did you teach Jesse and Miles to fish?
ANGUS: You bet I did.
What about Thomas?
ANGUS: Miles told you about Thomas? Wow.
Well, did you? Teach him how to fish?
ANGUS: No. Thomas was gone before I had a chance to teach him anything. Miss that boy.
I know what that feels like. I miss my father every day.
ANGUS: ‘Course you do.
Mr. Angus, I had this idea.
ANGUS: O… kay.
If I shared the water with Mother and Nana, we’d always be there for each other.
ANGUS: Oh, sweetie. That’s just not how the world’s supposed to work.
But if my father had known about the water, we would never have had to say goodbye, ever.
ANGUS: Well, that’s not like him. If he hopped a train, he could be six towns out, by now.
He isn’t on a train.
MILES: You know where he went?
I’m sure he’s in the woods.
MILES: Neither do I.
I know exactly where he is.
