WEINBERL: Good morning, Herr Zangler.
ZANGLER: … and my Chief Sales Assistant, Christopher. I give you the Grocers’ Company!
ALL: The Grocers’ Company!
MRS FISCHER: I am already well acquainted with Herr Weinberl.
ZANGLER: You are?
WEINBERL: You’re not, are you?
MRS FISCHER: How can you say that after writing me all those romantic letters, Scaramouche!
WEINBERL: Elegant and Under Forty!
ZANGLER: Thank you Gertrud.
(He starts to lead everybody out, MRS FISCHER bringing up the rear.) – Eugenia –
SONDERS: Marie.
WEINBERL: May I take you in Hildegarde?
MRS FISCHER: You’ve been taking me in for months, Herr Weinberl.
(MRS FISCHER exits. WEINBERL and CHRISTOPHER embrace with premature relief.)
ZANGLER: (Outside) Melchior!
WEINBERL: Melchior!
CHRISTOPHER (As WEINBERL) ‘I don’t think you know my wife!’
WEINBERL: (As CHRISTOPHER) ‘We want the best dinner in the house and we want it now!’
CHRISTOPHER (As MISS BLUMENBLATT) ‘Herr Weinberl – Herr Sonders –
